Compliment Your Surroundings

Sign, sign, everywhere a sign” … we know the song and its negative connotation to an entire industry. But really, must our signs block out the scenery? Not with the right product. Creative sign design can and should make any area more inviting by complimenting the surroundings while providing vital information. Plus, it can be entertaining and even commemorative. Enhance your surroundings with exquisite sign designs using ClearPath Signage Systems’ cell cast acrylic (PMMA) sheet.

ClearPath’s cell cast acrylic is a translucent, decorative, sheet that is UV stable, outdoor weatherable and extremely receptive to multiple fabrication methods. It is laser, rotary, and braille engraveable and heat bendable. It is well suited for screen printing and back lighting applications. The sheet offers a gloss finish on one side and a matte surface on the other meeting ADA regulations for tactile signage. Available in a distinctive palette of 19 popular colors you are sure to find one to enhance your décor.

With that end result in mind, let us walk you through a simple fabrication process that will demonstrate how you too, can fabricate striking architectural signage to compliment the décor in your customer’s facility. Using a 60-watt laser, we took a quarter sheet of cell cast Kiwi and placed it on the bed of the laser. With the protective mask still intact, we set the laser to vector cut the perimeter of my sign 8”x 8”, using 50 power / 30 speed / 1000 hz. This setting offered our frameless piece a pristine, polished edge.

After removing the masking from our vector cut, we were ready to engrave our image, a peaceful shadowed tree. Once again, adjusting the laser settings to raster engrave at 40 power/70 speed and 400 dpi, we hit start and the laser quickly etched the image into the acrylic. Once the laser stopped, we gently wiped away any remaining residue with a soft damp cloth and removed the piece from the laser.

Now it was ready for the finishing touch, the mounting hardware. We selected ClearPath’s Ghost support system. Ghost is a hidden support system fastened or glued to the back panel to offer a clean, ‘floating’ appearance that will not detract from your design.

And so, there you have it. In a span of 20 minutes, an attractive accent was fabricated to compliment the culture and décor in your facility.
