Anti-Static Tooling Board

General Plastics Manufacturing Company has introduced a new, easily finished anti-static tooling board that creates clean chips, and not dust, when used in carving and CNC-machine operations for models, prototypes, patterns and tooling.

According to Roger Yeager, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, "The material allows excellent finished-surface quality while helping to keep machining centers, and shop floors, free of dust. Recent advances in formulation technology have helped us attain outstanding chip-making properties while avoiding glass-bead fillers, making the boards easy to machine. FR-4500 is safe, gives superb results, and costs less."

Available in 5 densities from 15 to 50 pounds per cubic foot, the material is also available in large sheet sizes, with thick sheets (up to 12 inches) available to reduce glue-lines in larger lay-ups. Each density is color-coded for easy identification.

Their unique proprietary manufacturing process gives the tooling board superior heat-deflection temperature performance up to 215° F. This same process renders flat, stress-free sheets, and consistent properties across (and through) the sheet. It is kind to cutting tools, because it contains no abrasive fillers-allowing use of high-speed steel tools for machining and dimensional stability is excellent.

The board is compatible with a wide range of adhesives, sealants, and coatings, allowing users great freedom in bonding and finishing operations. It is available direct from the factory, and also through several distributor outlets.
