3-Axis CNC Router

The Model MB-1420 3-axis CNC router was custom built for high tolerance machining. The machine features a 14 by 20 foot table with 24 inches of Z-axis (clearance between the bridge and table). The spindle is a 24 HP, IS040 taper Colombo unit. The table features a custom-designed combination vacuum and manual clamping/fixturing system.

Most significant was the integration of linear scales for feedback, provided for precise positioning. This was combined with precise machining operations performed in-house. The machine was tested to be accurate within +/-.001 over the entire work envelope. The results were confirmed by a third-party machine calibration and testing service.

As a result, Motionmaster will begin offering linear scales as an optional upgrade on most standard and custom machines. A 5-axis machine with linear scales is currently under production and will feature an 8(X) by 16(Y) by 6(Z) equipped with a 24HP IS040 taper spindle.
