EXPANDING CAPACITY

Ticona, the technical polymers business of Celanese AG, is expanding capacity for GUR® ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE). A new 30,000 metric tons/year facility will be located in Bishop, TX, USA, and will replace the existing plant in Bayport, TX, doubling U.S. capacity.

The new plant will come on-line in 2002. Together with the facility in Oberhausen, Germany, Ticona's global GUR capacity will total about 60,000 metric tons/year.
