Fabricator’s Site
Quadrant EPP has developed an on-line community to assist fabricators, materials specifiers and designers in the use of engineering plastics. Although the content of this area is primarily intended to facilitate the use of engineering plastic stock shapes for machined parts, much of the information presented may be applied to plastic parts processed via alternative methods such as injection molding.

The site is growing every day and is divided into several sections. One section provides an overview of plastics as engineering materials, basic design considerations, and an introduction to commonly used physical properties. There is a material selection section, a step-by-step guide to selecting plastics based upon specific application requirements, including the need for chemical resistance and FDA or other regulatory agency approval.

The soon-to-be released component design section will contain guidelines for designing plastic bearings, wheels, sheaves and gears. The focus of the fabrication guidelines area is to facilitate machining of plastic stock shapes with a quick link to Quadrant’s tech support team who can answer frequently asked fabrication questions.
