Crown Plastics Now Producing TIVAR® Products

Crown Plastics Co., manufacturer of thin gauge UHMW in films and tapes, has put together a licensing agreement with Poly Hi Solidur to produce a number of the custom TIVAR® UHMW blends in thin gauge and tape form. These blends include TIVAR 88, TIVAR H.O.T., DrySlide and Ceram P.

TIVAR 88 is a custom formulation designed to enhance abrasion resistance to provide a more durable, longer lasting product. TIVAR H.O.T. is one of Poly Hi’s newer formulations with a continuous operating temperature of 275°F. This product will enable UHMW to compete with PTFE (Teflon) in a variety of markets offering abrasion resistance 30 times that of PTFE and at a lower cost.

DrySlide is an enhanced UHMW with a coefficient of friction nearly half of a standard UHMW material. This product is ideal for chutes and conveyor systems and since the DrySlide is anti-static, it is recommended for applications in the paper and packaging industries.

Ceram P is a glass bead filled UHMW with offers higher tensile strength and a harder surface with a Hardness (Shore D) of 70 as opposed to a standard 65. This product is designed to handle higher load capacity and offers enhanced abrasion resistance.

Crown Plastics will be offering all of these blends in gauges from .030” to .125” in widths from 1/4” up to 24” and available with a pressure sensitive adhesive so installation is as easy as peel and stick. In skived gauges from .003” to .020”, only the TIVAR H.O.T. and DrySlide will be available in widths from 1/4” to 24” with and without adhesive.
