AWFS®Fair 2003 Moves Ahead
The Association of Woodworking & Furnishing Suppliers® (AWFS®) is gearing up for the largest U.S. industry event in 2003, the biennial AWFS Fair to be held July 31 through August 3 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Southern California.

Last January, the start of the exhibitor space draw process, the 2003 AWFS Fair exceeded 2001 levels, with over seventy-two percent (72%) of floor space reserved. They now have over 440 exhibiting companies and feel confident that 2003 will be the best show ever. "This strongly indicates that the industry is enthusiastic about the 2003 event," says AWFS Trade Show Committee Chair Joan Kemp.

Pre-registration by July 9, 2003 remains an incredible value at only $10.

Attendees can register conveniently for both the Fair and their housing needs on line at www.awfsfair.org. The Association has also added a special fax number, 323-622-0321, which is a direct line to the AWFS Fair Department.

Increasing numbers of attendees are expected for the 2003 event. Using the central theme "Change Happens -- Keep Your Edge," the marketing effort includes a number of new ways to garner attention. A contest for a free trip to the AWFS Fair was launched in August 2002.

The ever-popular College of Woodworking Knowledge (CWWK) seminar program, held in conjunction with the Fair, will feature approximately 40 industry specific sessions, six seminar "tracks" -Business Management, Safety & Environmental Issues, Products & Materials, Technology, and Techniques - plus the newly-added Design track.

The sessions are further identified by shop size. The program of offerings range from 1.5; to 7 hours each. Participants will receive certificates of completion, which can be applied towards CEU credit.

Attendees will be offered a new "second person" conference discount when two or more individuals from the same company attend.

As part of the seminar series, the SMART (Special Machinery and Relevant Technology) Programs will be conducted on the exhibit floor before the show opens. Formerly known as SMOPs, SMART Programs offer non-commercial presentations by selected exhibitors in which participants can view new products and techniques, and discuss industry-wide issues with the experts.

The Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers is the largest national trade association in the United States representing companies that supply the home and commercial furnishings industry.
