RESIDENTIAL RAILING OF ABS-PVC EXTRUSIONS
CW Ohio, Inc. uses Celstran® long-fiber-reinforced thermoplastic (LFRT) from Ticona to replace natural cedar for the rails and newel posts in an outdoor railing that never rots, warps or splits. "These are the components that have all the loads in service, and coincidentally have a constant cross-section," explains CW Ohio President, Nick Noirot. The hollow-section, long-glass-reinforced extrusions, with a co-extruded skin of PVC for appearance and UV resistance, meet building codes for structural integrity and hold tight dimensions over a broad temperature range. They are also immune to moisture and insects, and weigh less than half as much as solid wood railings.
