The patented Aqua-B-Pex pipe, from Extrudit is believed to be the first in the world to incorporate a plastic oxygen diffusion barrier in a white polyolefin based tube which, apart from reducing the ingress of oxygen, also carries a potable drinking water approved product certificate. This multi-layer plastic pipe is said to cut installation time by 40 percent for all plumbing applications when compared with fitting copper piping. The pipe is rigid enough to maintain straight runs and flexible enough to allow for gentle bends. Designed to meet the stringent specifications required in the plumbing industry, the pipe is made from high density cross-linked polyethylene, which creates an interwoven lattice of polymer chains in the pipe's wall that is irreversible even at high temperatures.
